Digital Life Certificates, also known as "Jeevan Pramaan," are a biometric-enabled service for pensioners in India, offering a convenient alternative for submitting life certificates without requiring physical presence at pension disbursing agencies. This innovation helps senior citizens access their pensions effortlessly, reducing logistical burdens, especially for those unable to travel.
Why Jeevan Pramaan?
The Jeevan Pramaan initiative was created to address common challenges faced by pensioners who had to personally visit pension disbursing agencies, such as banks or post offices, to submit life certificates. By digitizing this requirement, pensioners now avoid the hardship and inconvenience of in-person visits, which is especially beneficial for those with mobility issues or those living away from their home state.
Steps to Obtain a Digital Life Certificate Using the Jeevan Pramaan Mobile App
Step 1: Download Necessary Applications
AadhaarFaceRD:
- Open the Google Play Store on your Android phone.
- Search for and install "AadhaarFaceRD" (Note: This app’s icon will not appear after installation, so there’s nothing to worry about).

Jeevan Pramaan App:
- Next, search for and install the "Jeevan Pramaan" app on the Google Play Store.

Step 2: Register the Device and Operator
- Open the Jeevan Pramaan App and begin with Operator Identification (this step can be done by anyone, not just the pensioner).
- Enter Aadhaar and Mobile Number:
- Input the Aadhaar number and mobile number linked to Aadhaar.
- Optionally, add the email ID for the operator.
- Authenticate Device:
- After entering details, you'll receive an OTP on the registered mobile number. Enter this OTP, then accept the consent terms.
- Use facial recognition by selecting “Scan” to register the operator’s face and complete device registration.
Step 3: Pensioner Identification
- Pensioner Details:
- Enter the pensioner's Aadhaar number, registered mobile number, and (if desired) an email ID.
- Pension Information:
- Provide key pension details, including:
- Full Name and Type of Pension (e.g., State or Central Government)
- Sanctioning Authority, Disbursing Agency, PPO Number, and Bank Account Number associated with the pension.
Verification:
- Provide key pension details, including:
- Review the information, accept the declarations, and submit.
- For single pensions, select “No” when asked about additional entries, then scan the pensioner’s face to complete this step.
Step 4: Receive and Access Your Digital
Life Certificate
- Receive Certificate ID: Once successful, an SMS with the Jeevan Pramaan Certificate ID is sent to the pensioner’s mobile.
- Access and Download: Use the Jeevan Pramaan ID to download the certificate from the Jeevan Pramaan website or app as needed.
Using the Jeevan Pramaan app, pensioners can submit their life certificates conveniently without visiting any agency or using additional hardware. This digital approach simplifies the entire pension verification process.
